FAQ

  1. Does IDC Giving Group provide grant funding? If not, what kind of assistance does IDC Giving Group offer?
IDC Giving Group is a resource development firm for non-profits; we are not the funders. We provide you with the tools and information needed to create long-lasting and beneficial partnerships with philanthropies and other grant makers. Our goal is to serve as the link between the non-profit organization and the funder who shares in their mission. Think of IDC Giving Group as your GPS, navigating you through the journey and helping you arrive at your final destination.
  2. Who gives out grants to Non-profit Organizations? Why do they give away money to organizations that they haven’t partnered with before?
Grant makers can be found in a variety of different sectors – private, corporate and government. Private grant makers are either individuals or family/community philanthropies who have committed themselves to allocating charitable dollars toward the promotion or advancement of a specific mission or cause. Most choose causes that have been a long-held beliefs or values, or ones that has impacted their lives in some way. All share a commitment to improving the world for the better. Corporate giving programs are also categorized as grant makers. Often, their charitable dollars are matched by their employees or are in some way connected to their product or service. A corporate giving program provides a channel for a business to give back to others in a meaningful way. Finally, government grants constitute a significant portion of funding for non-profit organizations. These sponsorships allow for the Public Sector and Voluntary Sector to join hands in creating impactful and lasting change for those in need.
  3. Why should we use your firm instead of running our fundraising and development campaigns in-house?

Firstly, a panoramic vantage point encompassing years of accumulated knowledge and experience in a wide-range of fields can be the critical factor in crafting winning proposals. 7. What is the grant application process and how long does it take?
Put very simply, the grant application process requires: organizational assessment, project planning, development of grant materials, consistent follow up, and post-grant donor relations. Many factors, both relating to the project and to the foundations themselves, can affect the pace at which the grant application progresses. While it is likely to produce results within the first year, and sometimes even sooner, a large extent depends upon your project potential and alignment with Foundation’s budgetary allowances.
  8. How much can my organization expect to receive?
The amount that you can receive depends entirely on the potential of your project, and the giving range of the selected foundations. This question is best answered on a case-by-case basis once we have evaluated your organization and project’s grant potential.

  10. I have tried to apply for grant funding before, without successful results. Why should I try again?
There are a myriad of reasons why a grant request may have failed to receive funding in the past—perhaps the writing style did not speak to the foundations, the project activities and goals were unclear, the required attachments were not included, or a Board Member did not see merit in your project at that time. However, that should not deter you from trying again! With a fresh approach, your grant requests may see incredibly successful results.
